Nanoscale silica slurry - Technology developments on nanoscale silica slurry use in mineral building materials with the aim of improving material properties

NanoKiesel intends to develop a method for using nanoscale silica slurry from industrial sewage treatment processes. The slurries will be used for improving the properties of building materials. A preparation technology will be developed, and different applications in the building industry will be investigated.
Within the project, the mechanical and systems engineering techniques for preparation of the filter residues will be developed to be adapted for the future use of residues in different building materials (brick, concrete, plaster, mortar). Handling of silica residues during preparation and processing is evaluated ecotoxicologically to define the health and environmental protection requirements for that type of nanoscale residues.
