Nanobalance detectors for individual-related measure-ments of nanoparticle exposures

NanoExpo intends to develop miniaturized high-sensitivity components by means of micro- and nanostructured materials. These components serve to carry out individual-related nanoparticle analyses. Being similar to dosimeters, they will enable portable, continuous and rapid measurement of nanoparticle exposure. The particle mass is measured directly on nanoscale resonance balances and is classified by size through preselection. The semiconductor nanotechnology method this development is based on has the potential for low-cost series production of special sensors. The sensors will be subjected to final functional tests at a nanoparticle processing facility.
