Fraunhofer ISI Study 2014

A new study conducted by the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) on behalf of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) deals with the question which role nanotechnology and nano materials will play in the energy sector, especially energy storage and solar energy.

The study finds that the use of nanotechnology will increase in the following years and that improved materials efficiency and reduced manufacturing costs are just two of the real economic benefits that nanotechnology already brings to these fields. Battery storage capacity could be extended, solar cells could be produced cheaper, and the lifetime of solar cells or batteries for electric cars could be increased, all thanks to the continued development of nanotechnology.
