Nanosafety Cluster Compendium 2016

The European NanoSafety Cluster has recently published the 2016 Edition of the Compendium of Projects. This years' edition again spans FP7 and Horizon 2020 funded projects in the field of nanosafety (9 running FP7 projects, 11 H2020 projects (7 running and 4 in negotiation)) providing exciting insights into the state of the art collaborative research occurring across Europe. Updates from the NSC working Groups are also provided, including introductions from two new WGs – Safety by design (WG9) and the Industrial Innovation Liaison (WGi2L/WG10).

As always, the compendium documents the status of important EU-funded projects on nanomaterial toxicity and exposure assessment and risk management, with increasing focus on safety-by-design considerations for nanomaterials, predictive toxicology approaches and high throughput / Tox21 type approaches. New initiatives including Marie Skłodowska-Curie RISE (NanoGenTools) and ITNs (PANDORA) as well as Coordination and Support Activities to support the market (EC4SafeNano) are also presented. The running FP7 projects are all coming into their final phase of activities, with most finishing in the first half of 2017.
